#UCLAarts alumni! Check your email, RSVP, don’t miss this special viewing of Refik Anadol (MFA '14) & Peggy Weil’s UnderLA: First Street Bridge Los Angeles. THIS Saturday, (Aug. 13), 8:30 p.m. at the 1st Street Bridge (between N. Vignes St. and S. Mission Rd) In association with #CurrentLA2016, #UnderLA: First Street Bridge Los Angeles is a visual descent below the surface of L.A. via scrolling images of lithologic soil samples. Taken by geologists at 10-foot intervals from the surface to 1,400ft below the ground, view images representing material dating as far back as 2.5 million years to the Pliocene Epoch. The sequences will be projected across the banks of the Los Angeles River. Join us! You can meet the artists and connect with other alumni in the LA area! WRD is proud to have contributed data that artists Peggy Weil and Refik Anadol integrated into their newest masterful work that was recently on display at the LA River. WRD Chief Hydrogeologist, Ted Johnson, called the art installation an “unprecedented journey into the depths, history and beauty of Los Angeles’ rich groundwater resources.” #lariver #underlawater #underla #groundwater #hydrogeology #art #wrdsocal A photo posted by Water Replenishment District (@wrdsocal) on Aug 15, 2016 at 4:51pm PDT

We are kicking off our Current LA project UnderLA tonight! The artwork is a visual descent below the surface of Los Angeles via scrolling images of lithologic soil samples. The photographed samples are taken by geologists at 10-foot intervals from the surface to 1400 feet below the ground. At one thousand feet the images represent material dating over a million years, at fourteen hundred feet as far back as 2.5 million years to the Pliocene Epoch. The sequences will be projected across the banks of the Los Angeles River at The First Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles! Anadol ve Weil’in UnderLA: First Street Bridge and The Origin of the LA River başlıklı projesi, Los Angeles’ın yüzeyinin altındaki litolojik toprak örneklerinin görüntülerine bir iniş niteliği taşıyor. #güncelsanat #sanat #haber #refikanadol @refikanadol A photo posted by Güncel Sanat Dergisi (@guncelsanat) on Aug 15, 2016 at 10:26am PDT
